Would that be as silly as it sounds? I'm looking through ads on the internet for a small dinghy to fish from on a still day, and I keep seeing adverts for ribs that say "fishing" in the title or write-up. How thick is the rubber on a rib, surely it wouldn't withstand a decent hook point.................or would it? :catch:  Paul

A couple of good quality ribs fish out of yaverland - I think you have just got to be careful with the sharp stuff, and choose your times to go, and make sure you have a good trailer/trolley for a safe launch and retrieve...

Yeah with a little care its ok. Many ribs have many air chambers even on 1 side, so as long as its not too rough, you can still get in if the worse thing happens. Though it would be harder than you think to put a hook into one.

Ive used my 4mtr searider for about 4 years now out of Yarmouth and have never had a problem. I find it really stable and quick to get from one spot to another. I have managed to hook myself in the foot once (but now wear shoes) but never damaged the RIB, even with mackerel feathers and spinners flying around. I agree a landing net is a good idea.

As said, as long as your careful when reeling in should be fine, just dont catch too many great whites
