get a couple of people to pull on each section as you move the rod joint in a circular motion!! i know this works but don't be to hasty

If that dont work Drew. Wrap the male section in clingfilm near the spigot and give it a few blasts with arctic spray pipe freezer.

Maybe a few bags for frozen peas / chips over the joint for an hour or so may cause enough shrinkage to loosen the joint? BirdsEye work best.

When you get it apart try putting a tiny bit of Vaseline on the spigot before you put it together, not necessary on most rods but works a dream with tight fitting ones.

Good bit of advise there Davey, will have to try it on my Fireflies, they get dam hard to separate sometimes. With regard to the temperature comments, I would suggest the opposite,i.e., warm up the female bit a tad. I'm saying this because my Fireflies tend to stick this time of year (cold) whereas I don't seem to get the problem in the summer (warm).

If/when you do get the rod apart then dont use vaseline as some people have stated, use either candle wax over the joints or a pencil lead. The lead/wax will solve this problem. If you use a a freeze spray, this might damage the rod. Best advise would be to phone Terry(ZZIplex) and ask him.

pour cold water over the joint and it should pull apart with gentle twisting. I have dunked my rods in the sea several times when i have been unable to get them apart and this has worked all the time.

As said bag of frozen peas round it for few minutes, had same problem with a V-Max f2.

I wouldnt spend too much time freezing and heating Drew - The Coefficient of Thermal Expansion for CFRP materials is practically nil, so no advantage really - Have you tried turning the two halves and wiggling the tip simultaneously? I have had that work in the past it sort of 'rocks' itself off in the end...

Being ol skool darkside has had its advantages,I have manys a time stood on the bank with 2 expensive pole sections stuck rigid due to moisture.
Advise given me was to place coat on floor and then grip offending joints either side and prepare to rotate opposing joints in opposite directions whilst ..tapping/lightly banging rod butt end onto coat on floor ....sounds dangerous I know......but believe me it bluddy well works......the vibrations created thru the blank as you apply pressure to the stuck joint seem to ease it apart...especially if the stuck joint is wet.
