Hi Drew, try using two of the rubber pipe straps, one round each section of the rod, turning them in opposite directions, shaking the rod quite violently to try to get the spiggot joint to move. Once you get it apart, don't use anything greasy on the joint as it will pick up sand and grit and over time will wear the joint loose. Just go over the male spiggot with a lead pencil, it will make it slippery but not sticky. Hope this helps. Jack

Jack cheers for that jack ....... so far weve had the rubber pipe clamps on it .......4 of them actually have even made a clamp out of wood to try genly knocking it !!!!! it really is stuck fast, the rod was wet when put together and is completly buried upto the spigot end , pondering the next move ( its dazas rod ) seems strange as had never had any trouble with the spigot before  maybe phone terry monday ? as you can imagine i really dont want to ruin a great rod cheers for all the replys chaps, time to think the next move over !

The reason for asking is it might release some suction pressure - Especially if it was wet - just a thought... Does the reducer have a closed end in the rod butt? cheers for that jack ....... so far weve had the rubber pipe clamps on it .......4 of them actually have even made a clamp out of wood to try genly knocking it !!!!! it really is stuck fast, the rod was wet when put together and is completly buried upto the spigot end , pondering the next move ( its dazas rod ) seems strange as had never had any trouble with the spigot before maybe phone terry monday ? as you can imagine i really dont want to ruin a great rod cheers for all the replys chaps, time to think the next move over !

"""im not sure what you mean abot knockin the rod od the floor mate """" OK............ find a hard floor......place folded coat on floor.......take hold of stuck rod about 6 inches either side of joint(make sure hand hold is dry)......hold rod end(butt) about a foot above floor/coat. Bang rod end down onto ground/coat and AT SAME TIME rotate your hands in opposite directions trying to free joint.....as long as its all done in one go Drew the vibration/shock sent up the blank should help to break up the moisture in the joint......freeing the bleeeeder..... :win: ....yes you do have to do it a few times but eventually it will give...id pop over and free it for a fee..but yud have to take me under cover of darkness to your bass spot...... Gazza

Try heating the female part of the joint over a kettle to expand it slightly then pull and twist the sections apart.
