Is there any space left between the two sections? If there is we made a thingy for doing this. It is a square of steel plate with a hole drilled in it that is just a clearance diameter for the section of spigot that is showing so that it can slide on the spigot but will jam against the end of the top section of the rod evenly. This is then cut in half and the two halves clamped oround the spigot. Now slide the bottom section into a short length of tube. Get a mate to hold the tube and give the rod a sharp pull so that the plate hits the end of the tube, this will pop the top section off a clean as a whistle. Done it several times with my Team Daiwas and it works a treat.

Good bit of advise there Davey, will have to try it on my Fireflies, they get dam hard to separate sometimes. With regard to the temperature comments, I would suggest the opposite,i.e., warm up the female bit a tad. I'm saying this because my Fireflies tend to stick this time of year (cold) whereas I don't seem to get the problem in the summer (warm). exsactly wot i was getin at its allways heat that brings things apart in my trade
