The older one is still a good reel but feels slightly clumsy, the spools a bit heavy, does not cast as well, the drag is ok but not as good as the newer version its a very improved lighter model worth the extra go for this one. You can get the older model mentioned above for £60. If you're on a tighter budget it may be the way to go. I'm thinking about it myself. Steve.

as slippery knows, i'm a new convert to the slosh20, i bought a used one while on me hol's, slippery actually swayed me to parting with the cash, it's the older version (sl20sh) but is a fantastic reel, casts well, reteive feels so powerful and smooth compared to my mag elite's, has a reassuring clicking noise as you wind in, a nice drag (100% better than my mag elites) and a ratchet, which is great for bass fishing,
my next new reel will defo be the 20shV !

I agree with your comments Nick, just started using one myself and it is a bit fast, I'll invest in some thicker oil. Faultless in every other way though. I like the automatic gear thing on the abus but i suppose with a handle like the shv has got it might engage when casting so the manual lever is probably safer IMO. Heres mine, i got it on ebay for around 80 quid.

Got mine from a guy over at Pagham , nice bloke ,he told me he'd had bass up to 9lb on it but it was still mint condition and the weight,or lack of it sealed it for me. Love it, its the one I choose most times I go out now. Shame they've stopped making it. It shows up bites well in the rest and you can feel whats happening at the other end when yer hold it Ill keep an eye on the spigot too thnx for the warning mate
