Weve been looking back at highs and lows of this year. What are your targets / plans / hopes in fishing terms for the coming year ?
For me, it's mainly just to keep fishing as much as possible ! But specifically, I would like to have a much better season for bass than this one was. I love me bass fishing and would like to get back on track and keep pecking away at that PB.
Also I want to get back into a bit more boat fishing again. To this end I have been in cahoots with a mate who is an area manager for a well known tool hire firm and he has arranged for regular charter outings aboard a boat out of Langstone for his employees (plus me !). The boat - a Lochin 33 also happens to be half owned and skippered by a personal friend and next-door-neighbour but one ! I know him to be a very knowledgable an excellent angler. We are booked for once every month from March onwards. Even better the trips are being subsidised by the firm ! So, weather etc. permiting I hope to be filing some interesting reports in the boat fishing section.

Nice one Richard, a monthly fishing jolly eh? That will be a good day out to look foward too once a month! My hopes are simple, to get loads of PB`s.....a sole PB must be on the cards, I have not beaten 2lb6oz for a couple of years now, but in the 6 years i have got back into going fishing a lot, i have had one 2lb or over every year. My pb bass is easily breakable as to is my plaice pb at 12 inches Oh and a cod would be nice, VERY nice, and some sizable whiting Hope you all have a good 2007, its just getting through the first few months that gets me!

For me and probally every other angler out there its got to be the ever elusive "DOUBLE FIGURE " bass , my biggest is 8lb 4 ozs , and that was many years ago !!!!!!, since then ive had bass up to 5 1/2 lb , all shore caught !!!! but hey we can all dream :-) ..........

Id like to catch a thirty pound carp, like every year. A 20lb pike would be nice too. In the sea it has to be a good bass, and some sole fishing, i missed it this year. And id like to get paige, my 4 year old into a bit of beach fishing when the suns out, and maybe a little float fishing at minster lakes, perfect for teaching the kids, loads of small carp to a pound and silver fish. Cant wait

Simply to get in a full year on the beach,Hayling probably, from the flounders after christmas to the plaice fishing early on to the bass fishing then on till the end and hopefully catching a few on the way. Add to that some early mornings tench and carp fishing which is so peaceful and a long weekend in the channel islands.Plus of course the "meet and greet" if its still on, wherever it may be. Looks like the new bathroom will have to wait another year !!!

I would love to set a few personal bests, none so far have been worth recording (except maybe the 1.25lb plaice). I am also determined to get amongst some double figure fish from the beach and I have been given some hints on where when and how - so I should have no excuses. Thanks RB.

I'm going to try to join some of you lads & tap into your individual expertise during 2007. I try to wander from home a fair bit but head way away, kent, dorset etc. I know I'm missing some good fishing in between given some of your reports. Its the same old thing - the likes of Chesil & Dungy are well documented but some of the beaches that RichB's reporting on I have no knowledge of even though its just up the rd. Isle of Wight you can see by the coastline offers so much but again its a bit of a closed book. Beware next year I'll be pestering people!
