not all forums have to be the same and i like both this and the forum with prizes you can take your pick.both have good cases.what is important is what i have learned on the forums which has helped me.i am looking forward to the meet and greet and i think that should also be treated as a pleasure day and not a comp in any way, lets share our experience and enjoy a good days fishing in our own time. i do fish comps so have nothing against them in any way but so far this forum has been aboat friendship and fishing issues not for us to compete agasinst each other. maybe helping each other with catching diff species on the day rather than competing would show the strength of this site.

I hate everthing about comps sorry but thats how I feel , yes I have tried them, I now fish for enjoyment and specimens not bag weights full of crap fish, who cares who can catch the most pout or smoothhound, or whatever it maybe, some comps have a huge element of armchair fisherman, do gooders, gossipers and stirrers of poo.they leave a trail of back stabbing and in some cases loads of pointless dead fish. for what glory?? I dont like anyone fishing near me at all apart from friends the last thing I would want is to fish with loads of anglers who are clueless or small fish minded for cash, so I would attend a pleasure day but as for who can catch the most crap in a day for, cash forget it. I like fishing my way in my time my style with no boundries......
Surley if you want comps join a club not a forum??

hold up guys looks to me you got the wrong end of the stick here . its not for cash or glory just for a photo to maybe win a prize . while you was out enjoying your fishing . so your going to tell me when you catch a nice fish you dont take a photo of it ?. it only takes to minutes to post a photo with a chance to win for free....

Hello Kipper,
This forum was built for like-minded anglers to chat & swap ideas. The ad's that feature at the top of the page generates no income for myself, any admin or moderator neither the forum itself. The adverts are put there by the forum provider & only they will profit. The forum's running cost although minimal are paid for by myself. Im not really sure there would be enough interest in such a competition, maybe you should run a poll? If theirs plenty of support for it we can arrange some sort of format & find a prize. Pete

Hey guys , this is a fishing forum !!!!!!, no need for prizes , ok have a little species hunt comp where you have points awarded , not prizes as status will outdo any prize you are awarded !!!!!!!......... , if thats what you want , competitions are healthy , and will always be around in the match circuit , but dont forget ths is not a match , but a friendly advice giving forum !!!!!, and to be honest , being a moderator on another forum, i have seen it all before and yes it spoils a good forum !!!!!, dont let it spoil this one , as you guys have something special going on this 1 ...................

I say we have a competition, 1 session, 2 rods, person that can lose most rigs wins.
Points are awarded as follows: Just the hook - 1pt. Just sinker - 2pts. All terminal rig - 3pts. Managing a crackoff with an 80lb shockleader - 5pts. Bonus points are awarded for other bits of broken tackle (rods/reels). All points are doubled when fishing from an "apparently" clean beach.
I've been doing some real "Eye Of The Tiger" training recently, so you've got your work cut out...
On a more personal note, I can see why people like fishing matches, I'm fairly competitive myself and have thought about having a dabble. I'd be more likely to fish an open rover match, especially if it was a pairs match (as I'm more likely to learn new skills). Not so keen on the idea of buckets of tiny dead fish though.
I don't think it's fair to ask a non-sponsored forum for prizes, as this may end up coming out of the mods own funds, like the domain name and ISP charges probably already do.
Steve.

Kipper, The Forum is provided by the host for free, every other service carries a charge, i.e buying the domain name, hosting the domain url, making the forum free of the pro-boards ads, adding file attachments are all subject to a monthly or annual fee.
Other than yourself I dont see any support for a photo judged comp but like I say start a new thread incorporating a poll asking if other members would like to see this type of comp ran through the forum, if so we will gladly sort something out, prize aswell.
Thanks Pete
