The shakey rods are ok, but the reels are notoriously poor.

So the shakey K2 is crap? Awesome rods! Have you got one?I didn't even get on with the ugly sticks! What was it all about clear tip so you can't see the end.Had the spinning rod it was so flobby aweful to cast, might have been unbreakable but some action would have been nice My oppinion is made for beginner's and kids

90%of there stuff is tonka toy tackle, agreed but they have produced a couple of cracking rods over the years. I like the oddesea bass rods and the old turboflex(15yrs old) and some of there new beach range is meant to be good.

I have not got a Mercedes car, but i`ll bet they are ok (so i`m told ;D).I have the old hurricane rod, great action, backbone where it needs it, and i`ll bet i`ll never snap it as easy as an abu conolon.

As Dave said the K2 seems to have gained a good reputation, I have a bass rod by them which is ok but I always think cheap when I think Shakespeare. Im not a great Penn fan either (they've got that gordy yank thing going on). You never know it may be a purely business thing & they may keep Penn as the Penn we've always known.

all joking aside penn had a large market when i was younger and did not seem to keep up with the others.they do seem to have a lot of boat fishing reels though. seaboy was my first reel and i was trying to buy one on ebay the other day for nostalga.

It hasn't done ABU any good by being bought up by the Berkley group has it? Let's hope another credible brand isn't optimised for profit. (I'll own up to having a Penn Seaboy as my first boat reel too!)
