Has anyone noticed any effect on your fishing when theres plenty of phosphorous in the water ?(little glowing bits you see on weed & baits) Just interested, Ive read reports where anglers have blamed poor sessions on this. I also read that there is more phosphorous in the water around autumn time but havent noticed this myself, has anyone?

I've never made a connection between noticing phosphorous and results. I'll bare it mind now though !

No I have noticed it many times but had never considered it a factor. I read a article about moonphase & it noted that the only factor that would kill off the improved last quarter, new moon & 1st quarter phases is when phosphorous is abundant??? I'm not to sure, this is why I ask. Im mad for taking notes but if the sessions were desperately bad I've never linked it to that.

I can honestly say it has never effected my fishing , or has it ? who knows what strange goings on will effect a catch rate , if the fish dont wanna feed , then they aint gonna , wrong bait , old bait , tides , water level , moon phases , who really knows lol , my advice is just to stick to the job in hand and go get them !!!!!!! , if that fails then you have had a bloody good time trying !!!!!!! lee.

Agreed Lee, as someone once said "a wise angler accumulates enough info over the years to know when not to waste his time"

I have to disagree Dave we get it so bad of freshwater bay in summer kills bass fishing at night. When its real bad you could see your line like a 4 inch thick glowing rope{this is how I learnt how your line bows in the tide while boat fishing}you could see it to the bottom 50 ft below me. have never caught when its like this

comes up from the west in spring with the black water. The black water is dark and full of plankton and is the warmer water from the west which macky and bass follow in for the summer.

Get that sort of dirty water around here (hastings) in april/may. It leaves loads of yellowish foam on the shingle and comes up in blobs all over your line. The local fishermen call it gulley water and it stinks , apparently its dead plankton. Kills the fishing stone dead untill we get a good blow to disperse it.
