Managed to get a few spiders lastnight for a few hours fishing. the ones i got had the hard spike on the end of the new leg but where still hard to peel. Can you bring them on at home in sea water to make them easier to peel? the ones in the picture a few posts up look ideal and i guess at that stage they will peel a lot easier

ive sortof tried keeping them alive same way i do with normal crabs. dont bother they wont even last a day, unless you get a tank, submerge them FULLY in cool constantly aerated water, then they might keep. remember to keep them fully submerged as apparently they cant breath above water

Hi all
Went down Pagham on sunday night to collect some peelers, low water was about 2 in the morning so i was upto my waist in the darkness with my head lamp on for 2hrs but only managed 5 that where at the right stage. I found a few that didnt have the hard spike and a few that where crinkly but i expected more especially at night.
Will they be back in numbers on a better tide or should i be looking somewhere else
Cheers Danny

I think they're off. spider crab peel doesn't last for ever. They may be over southampton way though, but not sure about that.
I've not seen any for a good couple of weeks now.
