[ ok so been down to gurnard twice on the trot and not a spider to be found on the beach anyone any ideas were they gone i heard a rumour their now over at colwell bay can anyone confirm this for me?

None at colwell after this blow. Got plenty at egypt wall in cowes the other night, though you will have to wade in for em!

They are usually around for about three weeks for their breeding season then disappear again. Arrived at Hayling around mid-May but all gone now probably to deep water.

try east cowes breakwater got plenty friday even found some down round castle point

Hi matey, went down L.O.S last nite every cast pulled up a god dam spider crab!!! If we can add these little beauties to the fishing comp point system i will be laughing!! ;D

Loads being pulled in when using mackerel or squid So i second the previous

No i didn't, big bu**ers they were Also pretty nimble so i guess they weren't peeling.

Pretty sure they don't feed before they peel. Fishing at norton one night a few years back mate and we were pulling loads of tinnie spiders out on our mackerel baits. It was a good night!

Pretty sure they don't feed before they peel. spiders unlike shore crab will feed during the peeling process,i've even had them when their crinkley in a baited drop net. i think the main peel is over male wise,i did manage 25 the other morning,only 3 were male,my guess is the female molt is about to kick off ;D forgot to mention,check for peelers as you would shore crab,BUT if the new leg section has'nt got the brown spike.it ain't ready ;D

If they are a tinnie they have already peeled so thats why they are hungry Dave trying to get food to build them selfs back up quick before they get munched!but have already lost the peeler sent. Yeah they don't usually feed (or do much at all actually ) whilst waiting to peel.
