Skaty, There is a bloke on ebay selling Fox Impressa 13ft Rods for £30 + P&P These are carbon rods with Fuji rings and I have heard some good stuff about them although not tried one meself. Even so, that is an incredible price for such a rod and if I was in the market I would get one as the average tackle shop price for those rods is at least £60.

Those 12 -13 ft 3 piece rods look well tasty to me for the money. I strongly suspect that this guy has designed a pretty good rod then got the chinese to make it for him. I had half a mind to do it meself a couple of years ago but not sure that mrs would approve the minimum order level of 500 rods (LOL). That is not a problem - some of the chinese factories have got quite good at making them in recent years E.g. I know that some Shakespeare rods are being made there. Sorry but I can't comment on the Silhouette range as I am not a fresh water man; therefore anything that can't cast at least 6 ozs is no good to me. I still think the Fox Impressa which the ebay guy is offering is slightly better value.

what i meant by the boat rod is that they are all out the same stable hence the build quaility will be good! Before you purchase any rod dont just choose something cause some body can wack it 200yrds it really is a individual thing always good to try before you buy cause it sure costs you if ya get a bad en...........

im knackered Slipp....I live 100 miles from the coast so aint near no shops and all the other rod companies are up north..... So fingers crossed for no expensive learning lessons ive already learned that a Daiwa Sandstorm aint the kiddy bein the updated cod 5 rod or was it the moon raker whatever it dont cast over 100 strides in the surf. Me thinks ive looked at to many. sassen frazzen rod choices...!!!!! Gaz

no i tried it too, feels like a piece of sponge and probably as much use as a wind sock. I wouldnt recommend the rods i use cause they are animals for the learner, but a rod that bassbotherer has the diawia supercast 13ft the heavier model for rock which is a nice enough rod and cast along way with little effort, off the ground, pendy, overhead. Great bite detection can handle leads between 5oz n 7oz fine with huge baits, and is perfect for someone whos looking to improve and it wont hinder you like some stiff beasts.... but i am sure there be someone out there who will tell ya different! also century offer some wicked rods carbon metal being one............
