So following on from the other thread....Who's interested in doing some Saltwater flyfishing in the summer months? I know nowt about salty flyfishing but I know a tiny bit about freshwater flyfishing, so........ lets see who's interested and take it from there... Anybody on here that's done a bit of Salty flyfishing and caught something then please feel free to coach us!! I can do the basic casting and barrell roll casting but thats it....... Could add another dimension to our fishing skills and also be a bloody good laugh which is what it's all about ;D Alex

Never fly fished myself, but i have seen people after Bass on the sands by thorney island. You get pools at low tide with bass in them

it all depends when the mullet come in mate. I had some fun at hamble this summer. you have to get there really early about 6 o clock in the morning and just wait... then at random points bass will start boiling at the surface and i was getting a bass every cast almost. all schoolies biggest probably 1.5 lb but i lost a bigger one so they are there.

I would be interested in this meet , although I have done a bit of Trout fishing and Flytying I have never had a go in Saltwater.
I would be able to supply the flies once I know whats needed.
I would have to use my lighter trout gear because Tennis Elbow stops me casting the heavy rods mentioned in the previous post.

I`m a keen saltwater fly fisherman and have been going about once a week for the past 3 years. Can give you lots of tips and have had quite a few stonking sessions in that time both on the beach and boat in the Solent. Best bass on a fly at the moment is 8lb, although I`m hoping to better that this year. Catching mackerel on a fly rod is great fun too!!! I`m more than willing to tag along, if you let me know when and where.

iv not long ago bought my self a grays fly out fit for bit of fluff chucking around hamble and out on the boat, so il be well up for it. my casting is pritty poor so might be able to pick a few tips up
last year my m8 at work took me fluff chucking for trout and i loved it, in return i took him out on my boat with a fly outfit and he had bass up to 3lb, mackerel ,1 shad and 1 garfish. he also had a loads of schoolies in hamble river too. hense this year im going to have a real good go at it. the garfish he had was crazy, tail walking and jumping every where. if any one wants to go fluff chucking the ponds for trout id be up for that every now and then
cheers john
